# The assumption-expiry tag for mystery reading

Readers often turn a suspicion into a fact simply because several chapters pass without contradiction. This expiry tag keeps a theory provisional and spoiler-light.

## Tag the assumption

Save one page that makes the method useful, then complete the fields in your own words:

| Field | Prompt |
|---|---|
| **Assumption** | What do you currently think is true? |
| **Trigger** | Which page made the idea plausible? |
| **Support** | What kind of evidence supports it? |
| **Expiry** | What later event should force a recheck? |

Keep the page number as the route back to the source. Avoid copying a protected passage when a short paraphrase will do.

## Choose a fair expiry

- Use a story event, not a page-count deadline.
- Name one observation that would weaken the assumption.
- Keep two competing explanations when the evidence fits both.

Write one working sentence:

> My current reading is ____________________________________________.

## Review rule

When the expiry event arrives, mark the assumption retained, revised, or released. Do not rewrite the earlier tag; the change in belief is the useful record.

## Boundaries

This is a private reading-reflection aid, not a quotation archive, plot substitute, academic citation, factual verification, or proof of an author's intention. For consequential claims, return to the full passage and verify outside facts independently.
