# The chapter-exit ticket for reliable restarts

Stopping at a chapter boundary does not guarantee an easy return. This exit ticket captures the change, open loop, and emotional residue in less than a minute.

## Complete four exits

Save one page that makes the method useful, then complete the fields in your own words:

| Field | Prompt |
|---|---|
| **Changed** | What is different from the chapter opening? |
| **Open loop** | Which question remains active? |
| **Residue** | What feeling is the book leaving you with? |
| **Restart cue** | What should you look for on the next page? |

Keep the page number as the route back to the source. Avoid copying a protected passage when a short paraphrase will do.

## Keep it small

- Use one sentence per field.
- Do not summarize scenes that are already clear.
- Choose a restart cue that can be confirmed within the next two pages.

Write one working sentence:

> My current reading is ____________________________________________.

## Review rule

On return, read the cue before the ticket's other fields. After two pages, either close the open loop or carry it forward with a new page number.
